The MFD can handle up to five video camera inputs. When the vehicle is in reverse, the MFD will display a view from the rear camera as though the MFD is a rear view mirror. When a passenger door is enable, the MFD will show a split screen picture of up to four camera inputs, which will give the operator a view of the passenger door(s) as the passengers exit the bus. The operator will know if there is an obstruction in one or more of the doors viewed by the MFD.
In maintenance mode, The MFD can test certain outputs in real time. When an output is shown on the LCD screen, the test results are also shown. This can indicate a broken wire, blown fuse, output current, or arcing depending on the nature of the fault. The LCD display can also show the J1939 Power Train multiplex control data. Information about vehicle systems such as Engine, Transmission, Traction (electric drive), and ABS/Traction Control Device might be shown in real time. The display items represent a practical list of useful data items. However, the implementation of the J1939 data is dependent on the Power Train manufacturer's willingness to provide each piece of data. In a practical vehicle, most but not all of the items listed will have some live data on the J1939 Power train multiplex control data bus.
The MFD also has data logging capability. The 100 megabytes of storage can hold more than a year worth of logged data, depending on the frequency of logging. The logged data comes from analog or discrete values on the J1939 data bus, and may include analog or discrete values from the DINEX system as desired. |
